To spread trans-boundary humanities knowledge beyond the specialized area of the university and researchers, public lectures for the general audience are being designed and run. They have been held from late 2009 and the research team develops such lecture programs.
Lectures for the Public, 2015: The “Places” in Literature: Finding History and Culture
One of the Reasons we fall for while reading world literature is the joy of meeting new “places” where history and culture come alive. In the lectures hosted by Ewha Institute for the Humanities of Ewha Womans University (2015), we would like to examine the historical memories and the cultural experiences embedded in the “places” in the literary works of Japan, China, France, Germany, and the US. By following the “places” where history and culture live, and tradition and revolution intersect, we hope that the lectures would provide the time satisfy you intellectual curiosity and cultural thinking.
