To spread trans-boundary humanities knowledge beyond the specialized area of the university and researchers, public lectures for the general audience are being designed and run. They have been held from late 2009 and the research team develops such lecture programs.
Lectures for the Public, 2014 : Imaginative Humanities
A British critique named Coleridge once said that imagination is the power to connect thought and object, and spirits and nature. It is the power and agent of all human perception. In the 2014 Ewha Womans University EIH Public Lectures, the people and events that involved great imagination in the boundaries of philosophy, arts, literature, science and so on will be dealt with. By reflecting the people and events that appeared with imagination in various areas through cultural (humanities) point of view, we plan to look for ways to accept these shocking imaginations most productively and positively. We will find out the surprising and unfamiliar meanings of the everyday events beyond traditional customs, ethics, and common knowledge through the power of cultural (humanities) imagination. We plan to provide the time where we can think of the contemporary humanities and community life through experiencing the methods of cultural (humanities) thinking and the power of imagination.
