Lectures for the Public, 2010: Visual Humanities I
Despite its short history which barely covers a century, film as an art form has seeped into contemporary society to an extent hitherto unreached, deeply affecting our senses and thoughts. The following lectures will involve the screening of films that range from entertaining to serious and difficult. Each film will be discussed to provide a better understanding of the scenes and challenges unique to current society, changes in film grammar and their effects, and the film-making society’s tireless effort to reinvent the qualities exclusive to the film genre. These lectures will provide a valuable opportunity for the public to understand the ways of thinking in humanities that can be found both within and surrounding the world of films.
